Pediophobia*

I love when the fall comes and all the catalogs start coming.  I pretty much want everything in Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn and even American Girls.  But while going through my huge stack of catalogs (full of wonderful, beautiful, glorious shit I cannot afford), I came across the most disturbing thing I’ve seen since SAW.  You thought Chucky was scary?  Check out this shit.

My Twin: The dolls that nightmares are made of...

My Twin: The dolls that nightmares are made of...

This comes from a catalog called “My Twin: the just-like-me doll”… Cause every little girl wants a glassy eyed hunk of plastic that looks eerily like the image in the mirror.

I’m not sure you get the extent of their creepiness… here, I’ll help.

Yikes.

Yikes.

And this next one I’m going to show you (I’m warning you, the images are SCARY AS HELL) is even worse.  I’m having a hard time telling the girl from the doll.  I’m actually pretty convinced that the doll has taken over this girl… and now, little Annie no longer has a $149 (no, I’m not kidding.  A hundred and fifty bucks now, night terrors for the rest of your life) doll that looks exactly like her… Annie’s doll has it’s very own human… accessories and all.

The doll or Annie? Can YOU tell the difference?

The doll or Annie? Can YOU tell the difference?

photo6She was such a lovely girl before the Christmas of 08′… now she’s just a shell of her former self.

Regardless of how much she begs, SassyPants will NOT be getting one of these.  While the silence would be lovely every now and then, I’d have to lock her in a closet to be able to sleep at night.

*Pediophobia- NOT to be confused with pedophilia.

Pediophobia, or fear of dolls, is relatively common. It is believed to be a type of automatonophobia, or fear of humanoid figures. Some people are afraid of all dolls and stuffed toys, while others fear only a specific type. Dolls that talk or move and old-fashioned china dolls are especially common targets of fear.  <<Thank you wikipedia!>>
