I Get it Now
So Viv and I were discussing Guiding Light and she reluctantly admits that GL was “her soap” in high school. Apparently there was a secret society of teenage GL watchers that I was wholly unaware of. Here’s how she explained it to me….
Viv:
“I found out that A & W (two separate people who were essentially the same person) watched Guiding Light too. So when we had early release we’d go to A & W’s house, smoke cigarettes, do crunches and watch GL.”
Me:
“Really? Cause Tower and I used to cut last period (she had golf and since she never went the teacher never missed her, and I had a great scheme of going to the nurse and having the nurse call my ‘mom’, i.e. Tower in the car with my mom’s cell phone…), go to her house, smoke cigarettes, watch Jerry Springer and then take a nap.”
ANYWAYS… so she explained everything to me (as far as Guiding Light is concerned). See Reva (significantly younger then) was lost in a plane crash. And they assumed shes dead. So what do they do? They clone her (of course they do!). But then the clone turned evil (why wouldn’t it??). And then Reva was found! And then they killed the evil clone.
I totally get it now, Thank you Viv.

you know — Tom and Jerry is the same kind of thing for me. I just don’t get it. Why do Tom and Jerry hate each other? i don’t think any of us really know, so sad. and it’s not like they get into therapy together, instead they try elaborate schemes to kill/maim each other — very funny, good wholesome kids tv. after running through the rest of last nights bottle of wine it usually gets even funnier (ok, it doesn’t get that funny until i’m through the wine and into the cooking sherry …. we go through a lot of cooking sherry).

I’m completely embarrassed to admit this but I did the exact same thing in high school! Even in the midwest girls sneak out of school to go to a friend’s house, watch GL, smoke cigarettes, then take a nap
